Good Health without Tears & Human Sexuality

Introduction
Definition of Good Health: The state of being free from illness or injury. A person’s mental and physical condition. Good health is not equal to absence of disease or its ailment, rather Good health = Balance in physical and biological environment. Many people, schools of thought and researchers have different opinions of good health, wellness, vitality and soundness of individual. Good health is the state of an organism when it functions optimally without the evidence of disease or abnormality. Good health/wellness is a philosophy of life and personal hygiene that views health as not merely the absence of illness but the full realization of one’s physical and mental potential as achieved through positive attitudes, fitness training, diet low in fat and high in fibre, and the avoidance of unhealthy practices (smoking, drug and alcohol abuse, over-eating). Good health is a state of complete physical, mental, spiritual and social well-being and not merely absence of disease or infirmity. Good health is categorized under insights to:
- Safe, Effective environment
- Health Promotion and Maintenance
- Psychosocial integrity
- Physiological Integrity
(1) Safe, Effective Environment:
This aspect provides integrated care by co-ordinating, supervising, and collaborating with members of multidisciplinary health care team. Specifically, observing directives, advocacy, concepts, care continuity, quality improvement, irregular occurrence reports, consultation and referrals. Protecting from environmental hazards … Accident prevention. Handling hazardous and infectious materials and precautions.
(2) Health Promotion and Maintenance:
This aspect entails growth and development through the life span. Prevention and early detection of disease conditions, assisting through the normal, expected stages of growth from concepton to old age. Ageing process, ante/intra, postpartum and newborn development and transitional stages. Expected body image changes, family planning, family systems and human sexuality. Need for prevention and early detection of health problems. Disease prevention, health and wellness, health promotion programs, health screening. Immunizations, lifestyles choices and techniques of physical assessment.
(3) Psychosocial Integrity:
This emphasizes the promotion of the ability to cope, adapt and/or problem solve situations related to illnesses or stressful events in life. This is considered through coping mechanisms, counseling, grief and loss. Mental health concepts, religious and spiritual influences on health. Sensory/perceptual alterations, support systems and unexpected body image changes. Child abuse/neglect, crisis intervention domestic violence, elder abuse and neglect and sexual abuse.
(4) Physiological Integrity:
This aspect enlightens provision of comfort and assistance in performance of activities of daily living. Elimination, mobility/immobility, non-pharmacologial comfort interventions, nutritional and oral hydration, personal hygiene, rest and sleep. Managing and providing care related to the administration of medications and blood products, expected effects, fluids and side effects.
Reduction of the likelihood that will develop complications or health problems related to the existing conditions treatment or procedures. Managing and providing care to people with acute, chronic or life-threatening physical health conditions. Adaptation in infectious diseases, medical emergencies, pathophysiology, respiratory care and unexpected response to therapies.
Human Sexuality
Introduction:
Sex = Latin word to cut or divide
Sex = Gender i.e Male or female. Sex organs for reproduction or sexual pleasure (ie Masturbation, kissing, coitus)
Sexual = relating to sex. Coitus- co it us, Sexual conception.
There are 46 chromosomes. Each pairs of XX= female. XY= Male
Human Sexuality:
The ways in which we experience and express ourselves as sexual beings. Our awareness as females or males is the part of our sexuality, as is the capacity we have for crotic experiences and responses. Our sexuality is an essential part of ourselves, whether or not we ever engage in sexual intercourse or sexual fantasy and even if we lose sensation in our genitals due to injury.
There are indeed more kinds of people in this world, people’s sexuality, biology, socio-cultural fabric of human society embedded in process of conception, pregnancy and childbirth and perception.
Theme:
- Human Diversity: This reflects the sexual experience in our society and around the world on the range of cultural, attitudes, behaviour, roles, conduct in sexuality in light of traditions and standards.
- Critical Thinking: This reflects the human ability to differentiate truth from fictions from inundated information on sexuality towards gender roles, probing of arguments and claims taken for granted.
- Responsible Sexual Decisions Making: Based on accurate information, humans should take actively their own sexual decisions. Intertwining with experiences, psychological and physical evaluations of information considering the ethical and moral reasoning towards dating, sexual-intimacy, contraception, protection against HIV/AIDS and other STDs and modelling to choices.
- Sexual Health: This emphasizes mostly on issues relating to sex and health of sexual organs. With extensive coverage for consideration as HIV/AIDS and other STDs, contraception reproductive technologies, breast cancer, menstrual distress, sex and disabilities, reproductive tract diseases. Health promotion roles for human are essential for risk reduction.
